Winter Activities

One of my favorite winter read aloud books is Snowflake Bentley! The book is great for teaching about biographies, expository nonfiction and narrative nonfiction. This book is a great way to closeout the month of December when all the students are wound up and ready for Christmas break, because there are so many fun activities you can do along with the book.
The activity about has twenty pages of different activities that are both academic and fun that are companion activities for the Snowflake Bentley book.  The best part is it includes the same activities in Google Slides as well! So it's perfect for distance learning.

Some other things you could do along with this activity in the classroom or online is teach the students how to cut a snowflake.  Here is a video that shows how to cut a snowflake out of a piece of paper!  This video is a tutorial by a kid for kids!

There are lots of fun informational videos out there that explain where snowflakes come from and would be great to go along with the book.
There are lots of winter read alouds that can be used this Winter! Check out these other book options!
