Johnny Appleseed Day!

Today my class celebrated Johnny Appleseed day.  We discussed tall tales and exaggerating stories.  We also learned about adjectives (descriptive words) and we retold a story.  Retelling is a skill we have been working on for a couple weeks.  Here are some different activities we did.

We came up with different words that described apples and wrote them on our anchor chart.  The chart is obviously not complete here, however it was full by the end of the lesson.  The students also created their own descriptive apples using this free template you can grab at my TPT store. I plan to put them on a tree on a Autumn bulletin board! Ill put a picture up as soon as I get it completed!

The students completed their retelling on these cute little apples which are also available with the free template above on my TPT store.

Here is a preview of one of the apple centers I used as well.  I have put all of these things and more into a Fall Literacy Bundle you can get here!

Educationally Yours,

Deb Avrick
