Hello All!
The first
week of school has come and gone and I am still trying to keep up with my
little energizer bunnies who come in and roam my classroom everyday. I
have found each year that I get a little more organized. Of course with
the use of Pinterest I find fun and cute ways to be organized! organization keeps my
classroom (and my life) in order. I moved to a smaller classroom this year so I
am very thankful for my little organization tricks that keep me sane.
let's start
with a quick peek at my classroom.
The top
picture is of my reading area. I am still in the process of putting it
together. I got the soft green rug from Ikea (I could spend all day
there!!). The crates were from Walmart and the pillows were actually a set for
wicker furniture from The Christmas Tree Shop. The kids love getting
comfy in the library to read!
The
S.W.A.G. Board is a non-negotiable in my county. It stands for 'students with a
goal'. My firsties know their data all year long and we anonymously keep track
of it on this board. I always display it differently every year, but haven't
found a way that I really like it yet.
the bottom
right-hand picture is of my writing center. I was lacking wall space so I
picked up this trifold board from the dollar store and staples my writing center
to it! Now we are reading to roll.
This is my interactive word
wall and my small group reading area. The word wall is magnetic. The students can come up and grab the word they need and take it back to their seats. It's also a great tool for my students who need work on their alphabet sounds during the first quarter. We can play sight word "I Spy". This is a brand new classroom for
me this year, so I think I am going to use the chalkboard as a focus wall for
my small groups with sight words, vocabulary and skills for each leveled group.
